Introducing the New STCA National Rescue Coordinators
by Judy and Larry Halfen

In October 2002, Judy and Larry Halfen agreed to take on the responsibility for coordinating the SCTA Rescue Program.  The article explains how they intend to follow in the footsteps of Daphne and Marshall Branzell who held the post for the past five years.

Judy and Larry open their home to describe the three Scotties that they own and their previous involvement with rescue in North Carolina.  Tufi is the Halfen's latest addition--she's a puppy that Judy brought home from the last Montgomery County weekend in PA.

A major portion of the article deals with how they see the rescue program moving forward in the coming months and years.  They intend to work with the STCA Board, legal advisors, and experienced lay experts to help develop a new se of rescue guidelines and a Code of Ethics.

An Interview With The First Lady
by Helen Krisko and "Joey"

Joey, Helen's Wheaten Scottie, opens this interview with his perspective on their special tour of the White House.

Together, they got to the bottom of pressing questions like:

How did Barney get his name?
Where do Barney and Spot sleep?
Does Barney use the Oval Office?

To quote the President, "Barney is great."  And so isn't this rare look at the inside of the White House and the special Scottie that resides there.
