The
Saint Bernard Club of America is a club that is rich in history, being
one of the oldest breed clubs in the United States of America. We now
are entering into our
third century! The Saint Bernard national club was
formed on February 22, 1888 and has been reorganized from time-to-time
(December 30, 1897 & March 1, 1932), but it has had a continuous history
as a member club with the American Kennel Club (AKC) since
1898. Keep in
mind, the AKC was founded only four years earlier in
1884. The Saint
Bernard was one of the first breeds recognized in America by the AKC.

If you have any early history
of the club, or knowledge of early national specialties (pre-1935),
please contact me at:
saintbernardnationalarchives@comcast.net.
We would like to store as much of this early history and photos, etc. in
the Archives as is possible for the future admirers of the breed.
Also, if you know of a
national specialty photograph that is missing
(click
here for needed photos), or one of
better quality, a color photograph, or an "official" national win photo
picturing the judges and national trophies, please contact me and share
them with the world! I would like to scan the photograph and return it, or
you may send a copy to me in JPEG format at the e-mail address above.
Thank You!
