The meeting was called to order at 9:45 a.m. by President, Marcy Bankus. In attendance were Dan Hodel, Joe Gentzel, Kathy Lee, Flo Laicher, Judy Brown, Kerry Kern Woods, Christine Palmer-Persen. Darrell Goolsbee was absent. Flo Laicher moved that the Board approve the format of the dues notice, and that the mailing of the dues notice will include an explanation of the 5 year membership, along with a ballot for the 3 proposed lifetime members. The motion passed unanimously. Judy Brown moved that the Board approve the bid from the Great Pyrenees Club of Metropolitan Milwaukee for the 2011 National Specialty. The motion passed unanimously. Christine Palmer-Persen moved that GPCA support the care of the Great Pyrenees, Hudson and Murphy, on their 2000 mile walk with Luke Robinson from Austin to Boston for up to $1500 from the general fund. The motion passed unanimously. AKC's new PAL program, with efforts to involve more rescue dogs in performance events, was discussed. This is a pilot program, with Great Pyrenees one of the breeds involved. This program was presented to AKC by GPCA. Kerry and Kathy discussed the possibility of having the rescue contract/guidelines signed by all members of the GPCA rescue network. An annual AKC Sportsmanship Award has begun. A medallion will be sent to each parent club to be presented to a club member. Criteria and procedure will need to be developed for presenting this annual award. Joe Gentzel, Dan Hodel and Darrell Goolsbee will work on developing the criteria and procedure. Kerry Kern Woods moved that the Puppy Mill Committee be renamed the Studbook Data Committee. The motion passed unanimously. Judy Brown moved to allow Mary Ann Feller to transfer the studbook pedigrees in electronic format to Dr. Mark Neff at UC-Davis for use in the dwarf study. The motion passed unanimously. The Board discussed some broad ideas for change; such as having an awards event on a separate evening, other than the regular banquet with trophy presentations, auction, etc. The meeting was adjourned at 3:45 p.m.
