The 2008 American Brittany Club National Specialty Show will be Nov. 28, 29, and 30, 2008 at the Howard Johnson Hotel in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. This location has a facility that doesn't require having to hang plastic at the show site. We will have to put some plastic in a smaller room in the same building. The main floor is concrete. We hope to be able to have most if not all of the vendors in the same room; this will be determined by the number of vendors and entrants we have. There are many restroooms and a full kitchen for hospitality at the show site so people can enjoy the show or grab something to eat or drink without having to leave the show area. The hotel was purchased 4 years ago and completely remodeled. They should have the show site completely remodeled soon and I will try to get pictures. The cost of the sleeping rooms is lower than the other hotel. It also has a large bar/lounge area, a restaurant and offers continental breakfasts. The hotel also has a shuttle service to the airport. There are only 2 floors and lots of parking (no more parking garage across the street). There are also 2 areas we can use for rv parking (sorry--no hook-ups); the only request is that we make sure the areas are clear of all dog waste and people trash. I hope to have a bathing area if weather permits ( and I don't have to haul all that plastic!) The Days Inn is located close by for those who prefer to stay there. The show site is a separate building across the street from the hotel. If things work out as we have it planned, we may be able to set up very late on Thursday evening if Tony and his crew have had time to mark aisles, etc., and the show superintendent has been able to set up all his rings. However, no dogs can be left on Thursday evening. There are meeting rooms available in the hotel and we have one room reserved for the judges and breeders seminars. I think this move will make things better and more convenient for all of us. The hotel is looking forward to having us at their facility and has been very cooperative with requests and assistance. The cost to the club also is considerably lower than the other hotel which means we can still work within our budget.
Mike DeClerk will be the videographer for this show. He will be taking paid pre-orders for the show. Details will be in the magazine this summer. We will also have new photographers. They will have most of the pictures available for you to view at the show; they will also make photos ringside and portraits for those who are interested. More details will be available soon such as costs, etc. I have a number of photos they have done and have been very pleased with their work.
