There was no Best of Breed winner for the 1996 ABA National Specialty Show. The win was disallowed by the AKC because the Best of Breed/ Best of Winners/ Winners Bitch was exhibited in a class in which she was not entered. The Bullmastiff in question had been incorrectly entered in Best of Breed competition and the move to the Open Class occurred after the closing date for the show. All awards for this bitch were revoked. The Best of Opposite Sex remained the same, and the Reserve Winners Bitch was moved up to Winners Bitch according to the AKC rules.
